School History

St Catherine's recently celebrated it's 60th anniversary.
St Catherine's School opened in 1957 and was administered by the Sisters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. In 1984 the first lay principal was appointed. In 2017 the school celebrates 60 years of providing Catholic Education in Moorabbin.

The school is situated on spacious grounds in a quiet street off South Road. You will find major shopping centres, secondary schools, a TAFE college, a swimming complex, parks and sports grounds close by. There are many local sporting groups, clubs and hobby groups in the community to cater for the interests of the children.

The school has approximately 150 students. They enjoy the sporting facilities and quiet areas our playground has to offer. These include playing fields with facilities for football, cricket, soccer, netball and basketball and a shaded Adventure Playground catering for children in all grade levels. The school also has a courtyard and Vegetable Garden.

The school buildings have undergone major refurbishment to provide adequate facilities condusive to a contemporary learning environment. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and computer areas. In addition we have an Art Room and a Learning Centre which includes an Information Technology area and Library. We have a spacious hall which is used for assemblies, performances and physical education classes.

As of 2018 St Catherine's has become the centre of the Federated School's Arrowsmith Program. A brand new and refurbished learning space has been created with the purpose of supporting the program. Additionally the school is hosting weekly homework club's to assist with Arrowsmith Students and their additional work.

A major feature of the school is the friendly atmosphere. Our teachers and administrative support personnel are dedicated professionals who willingly share their talents for the benefit of the children.

Our Christian values and beliefs underpin all that happens at St Catherine’s. Our Catholic faith is being lived and seen daily in an educational setting. All are valued members of a caring, Christian community and all children participate in and benefit from the Religious Education Program
